Condominium Corporations

This case seeks compensation for damages that condominium corporations sustained as a result of alleged bid-rigging and anti-competitive conduct by certain contractors in respect of common element refurbishments carried out beginning 2006. Sotos Class Actions is working with Common Ground Condo Law on this proposed class proceeding.

This conduct is the subject of criminal charges laid against the defendants by the Competition Bureau as announced on March 29, 2021.

Updates
  • December 28, 2022:  Settlement approval of the defendant CPL Interiors Ltd. was approved by Justice Little.  See Reasons for Order.
  • June 3, 2022: A settlement for $555,000 has been reached with a defendant, CPL. Details of the proposed settlements are described in the publication, short-form and long-form notices. A copy of the settlement agreement can be found here. The deadline for opting-out or for commenting on the proposed settlement is August 2, 2022. The Federal Court hearing to consider the proposed settlement will occur on September 21, 2022.
  • April 27, 2021: Statement of Claim was issued.
